About Me

The Himalayan Economist is an independent economics and finance publication founded by Jagrit Kanodia, an A Level student at Rato Bangala School, Kathmandu, studying Economics, Business, Mathematics, and Accounting.

Jagrit’s interest in economics goes well beyond the classroom. He has interned as a stock market analyst at Laxmi Sunrise Capital Limited — analysing NEPSE trends and company reports — and as a finance intern at Shivam Cement Limited,
working directly with financial statements and key performance metrics. In February 2026, he co-authored a peer-reviewed paper on income inequality and urbanization in Nepal, published in the International Journal of Social Science
and Economic Research, and was published in Republicá writing on Nepal’s exposure to global tariff risks. He has also completed finance certifications from Yale, Wharton, London Business School, Cambridge, Duke,
and Oxford.

The Himalayan Economist was founded in April 2026 with a simple mission: to make rigorous economic analysis accessible, relevant, and rooted in the Nepali context — covering NEPSE movements, macroeconomic policy, and
global financial trends and their implications for Nepal and South Asia.
